In the ruling, Justice O. Y. Anuwe declared that, as the election that brought Prof. Damen to office occurred on November 16, 2020, he was disqualified from vying for the national president role, as he was concurrently holding the position of national secretary, a term set to conclude on the midnight of November 18, 2020.
The court mandated the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association to assume control and promptly inaugurate Dr. Uche Odionyenma as the new national president.
Justice Anuwe additionally asserted that both the first and second defendants were ineligible to participate in the November 16, 2020 election for the office of national president of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria.
