Melaye reiterated his stance when explaining his decision not to participate in the governorship election.

During an appearance on Channels TV Politics Today, he emphasized that the act of voting held no legal significance in this context.

Securing the third position as Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the victor, Melaye dismissed the relevance of his voting status, stating, “The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status.

People win elections in prison. Legally, it has no relevance to the election. Whether I voted or not, it is immaterial. I don’t want to talk about it; there was no election in Kogi State on Saturday.
