The party claims that their legal team’s official request for access to these documents has been acknowledged but denied.
In a press release signed by Chibuikem Diala, the Media head of Sen Achonu Campaign Organisation, it was revealed that the denial of access comes after the Labour Party’s legal team formally requested the CTCs on November 15, 2023.
Diala highlighted the urgency of the situation, expressing concern that the delay might be a tactic to deny the party and its candidate justice.
He called on the National Chairman of INEC and security agencies to address the situation promptly.
The release raised questions about INEC’s transparency, questioning why the electoral body is delaying the release of requested documents if it has nothing to hide.
Diala emphasized the need for a timely and efficient approach from INEC, particularly considering the swift announcement of election results.
Concerns were also raised about the potential misuse of the delay to tamper with sensitive materials in the INEC office, possibly to influence the election outcome.
The statement called on security agencies and INEC, led by Prof Mamoud, to ensure the timely release of the certified true copies as requested.
