Speaking at a stakeholders meeting at Government House, Makurdi, Akume, represented by party elder Simon Shango, emphasized the party’s commitment to peace and unity within its ranks.

Addressing speculation of division between him and the governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, Akume dismissed such notions, asserting his loyalty as a servant and ambassador of the state at the federal level.

Shango conveyed Akume’s message, stating, “The SGF said he is your (governor’s) eyes in Abuja. He appreciates the work you have done so far. In a situation like this, there must be problems, but they are being solved.”

Highlighting the party’s determination to maintain a united front, Akume emphasized that no one would be allowed to take away the party’s mandate. Shango reassured.

“The party is determined to ensure unity of purpose among the members, and he (Akume) emphasized that no one will go away with our mandate anymore, and we will do our best to ensure that the marriage continues.”

Dispelling concerns about the relationship between the governor and Akume, Shango affirmed, “There is no issue with the governor, and they have been relating well.

Former Governor Alia urged party members to unite, cautioning against political mischief that could create divisions.

Expressing gratitude for the party’s confidence in him, Alia pledged to work tirelessly to restore the state’s glory.

He assured that the party would remain united, emphasizing the importance of standing together for a common purpose.
