In a Wednesday interactive session in Abuja discussing the 2024–2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP).
the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, led by Hon James Faleke, received statements from Fidet Okhiria, the Managing Director of the National Research Council.
Faleke asserted during his address to the NRC MD that social media footage indicated the involvement of their employees in ticket hawking.
In response to queries from the committee chaired by James Faleke, Okhiria acknowledged that NRC employees had indeed participated in ticket racketeering, resulting in revenue losses.
Okhiria stated, “This is accurate, and the remedy for that is e-ticketing, which the government has approved.”
He further mentioned that employees involved in minor offenses had been demoted, while those engaged in more serious offenses had been terminated.
