He highlighted that former senators now hold key positions in the executive branch, fostering a healthier relationship between the two arms of government.

Akpabio stressed that the involvement of former lawmakers in the executive would contribute to a more cooperative atmosphere.

Akpabio drew a parallel with the United States, citing that it took 185 years for the U.S. to produce two former senators, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, as president and vice president.

In contrast, he noted that Nigeria has achieved a similar feat within 24 years of democracy, with two former senators currently serving as President and Vice President.

He pointed out other alumni of the National Assembly in significant roles, such as Secretary to the Federal Government Senator George Akume and Chief of Staff to the President Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Akpabio emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with the executive, considering the significant representation of former lawmakers in key positions, creating numerous bridges and connection points between the legislative and executive branches.
