“Peter Obi Lied That GlaxoSmithKline Left Nigeria Because Of Poor Economic Management” – Reno Omokri Fires Back With An Explanation For The Company’s Departure
Reno Omokri, former presidential aide and PDP spokesman, has refuted claims made by Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, regarding the departure of GlaxoSmithKline from Nigeria. Omokri took to his Twitter handle to debunk Obi’s assertion, stating that the pharmaceutical company’s exit from Nigeria was not due to poor economic management, as claimed by Obi. CONTINUE READING
In his tweet on Thursday, Omokri urged people to fact-check his statement. He argued, “Before leaving Nigeria, GlaxoSmithKline left India in November 2022. India has one of the best economic management teams on Earth. Next, GlaxoSmithKline left Kenya in October of 2022. Kenya is on a sound financial footing.”
Continuing his clarification, Omokri pointed out that GlaxoSmithKline announced its withdrawal from Nigeria around the same time that Standard and Poor rated Nigeria’s economy with a high stable B rating this year. He emphasized that the company’s global strategy and the challenges of the global supply chain crisis influenced its decision to relocate manufacturing operations.
Omokri accused Peter Obi of spreading false information to incite the public and revive his 2027 Presidential ambition. He alleged that Obi’s statement was misleading and aimed at creating a negative perception of Nigeria. Omokri concluded by stating, “He is just a desperado who can even sponsor war to have something negative to say about Nigeria!”
