Former Lawmaker Shehu Sani Alleges Strong Backing for Kidnappings and Terrorism in Kaduna, Calls for Federal Government Intervention
In a recent statement, ex-lawmaker Shehu Sani suggested that influential entities are supporting the surge in kidnappings and terrorism in Kaduna State. Sani directed criticism at the former governor of the state, Nasir El-rufai, accusing him of inadequately addressing the security challenges in the region.
Speaking on Trust TV’s ‘Daily Politics’ program, Sani highlighted the consistent occurrence of school kidnappings in Kaduna, citing incidents at Greenfield University, Bethel Baptist School in Kajuru, and the College of Agric and Mechanisation. He emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Government to intervene and combat terrorism in the state.
Sani recounted his visit to Bethel Baptist High School after a kidnapping incident, describing how desperate parents sold their homes, lands, and personal belongings to raise ransom money, while the Kaduna state government reportedly took no significant action. He revealed that over N280 million was collected by parents and paid to the terrorists.
Expressing skepticism about the absence of powerful forces supporting these terrorists, Sani questioned the destination of the funds, underlining the need for federal assistance to protect Kaduna State from the menace of terrorists and bandits.
