The APC Chairman in the state, Tajudeen Lawal, conveyed in a statement by the party’s Media Director, Kola Olabisi on Monday that the way the governor’s media team has handled his whereabouts indicates an attempt by the administration to conceal information from the public.
The statement partly reads, “The conflicting explanations for Adeleke’s absence from the state for a clear 30 days are sufficient grounds to suspect and conclude that the governor is employing falsehood to mislead the people, implying that he has something to conceal.
“Anyone can fall ill at any time and anywhere. However, it becomes a matter of public interest when someone politically exposed, like Governor Adeleke, falls short in performing his constitutional duties.
“A chameleon, which moves stealthily, can fall ill, let alone a frog that repeatedly strikes its entire body against the ground. No individual engaging in the lively dance style of Governor Adeleke at the age of 60-plus would not have some health challenges to grapple with.
“In essence, Osun State is not an individual enterprise that can be managed outside the provisions of the constitution. The governor must adhere to his constitutional duties of providing quality governance for the people of Osun State, as anything less is unacceptable.”
In response, Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, stated through the party’s Media Director, Oladele Bamiji, that the Governor was on vacation and is expected to return this week. He emphasized that the Governor utilized the one-month vacation for relaxation, rejuvenation, and preparation for his second year in office.
Bisi clarified, “The Governor granted interviews on both radio and newspapers to mark his one year in office, and I can assure you our Governor has no health challenges. It is not a crime to take a vacation after working so hard for 12 good months. Even during his vacation, the Governor was coordinating his team, launching the implementation of the Multi-billion Infra Plan project. Everyone can see the ongoing work at Oke-fia – Lameco Junction. Our Governor is even working while on vacation.”
“As soon as the Governor returns this week, Osun should expect more delivery of democracy dividends and good governance. Osun APC is merely chasing shadows. The Adeleke governorship is the best for the state,” the statement concluded.
