The announcement came after a meeting convened at Chief Bode George’s office in Lagos on Monday, where party leaders, officials, and a group of national mobilizers led by Iteh Ubon were present. Addressing the media post-meeting, George emphasized the limitations of the Labour Party, describing it as lacking the necessary structure for a national election victory. He suggested that Peter Obi contemplate returning to the PDP, stating, “The Labour Party doesn’t have the root. The LP came out of anger; it doesn’t have the kind of root we have. LP is a wind.”
Expressing goodwill towards the North but urging a pragmatic approach, George stated, “While I hold no animosity towards the North and even have close friends there, PDP members must recognize this reality before it’s too late. A PDP member from the South must be our candidate, and we must unite behind them to defeat the APC in 2027. Until 2031, nobody from the North should even consider running for our party’s presidential ticket. It’s time for the true elders of our party to speak up and face the truth,” he added.
