Governor Fubara, accompanied by former Rivers State Governor Sir Peter Odili and other prominent stakeholders from the state, entered into discussions behind closed doors with the President.
It appears that the President is intervening to resolve the ongoing conflict between the governor and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike. Wike was observed earlier at the State House.
Presidential sources have indicated that the meeting is likely linked to recent events in the state, where 27 out of 32 members of the State House of Assembly, who align with the FCT Minister, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before the substantive discussions commenced, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima was observed attending the meeting.
