Breaking: EFCC Reveals Victor Odeh’s Real Age: 19, Not Seven, As Previously Stated In Fraud Conviction
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted claims circulating in the media regarding the age of Victor Oche Odeh, a convicted internet fraudster. In an official statement released on Monday via its official handle, the EFCC clarified that Odeh is 19 years old, not seven as previously reported.
The statement addressed the misinformation surrounding Odeh’s age, emphasizing that the attention of the commission had been drawn to inaccurate accounts of the conviction. According to the EFCC, Victor Odeh was one of five undergraduates sentenced to two years imprisonment each by Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on July 21, 2023. The convictions were based on a guilty plea to a one-count separate charge related to internet fraud.
The four other individuals convicted alongside Odeh were identified as Chidebere Stanley Opara (a.k.a. Avail Hollywood), Manasseh Sefa Ephraim (a.k.a. Felicia_dannyyels), Chukwukere Obinna Paul (a.k.a. Shaun Lee), and Enyogu Etim Ekpo (a.k.a. Henry Wilson, Jasdav7).
The statement clarified that the ages of the convicts, including Odeh, were not initially disclosed in the commission’s earlier release in July. The EFCC deemed it necessary to provide this clarification to correct the misinformation regarding Odeh’s age.
The EFCC also dismissed false narratives circulating on social media, particularly the claim that Odeh is seven years old. The statement emphasized that the EFCC neither “paraded” the convict nor is it a court of law that rendered the conviction; therefore, any misinformation regarding the circumstances of the case should be disregarded.
