Dr. Edu expressed deep concern over the plight of residents in Belegete and Okwa communities, who faced attacks by insurgents from neighboring Cameroon Republic. Witnessing the influx of refugees and IDPs from these communities, the minister emphasized the necessity of constructing more houses to accommodate those affected by the crisis.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, she announced that the Federal Government is committed to initiating additional poverty alleviation projects by January 2024. Driven by President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the government aims to uplift 50 million vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty.

Governor Otu praised President Tinubu for his caring administration, stating, “We’ve never seen a government as compassionate as that of President Tinubu.” He acknowledged the President’s passion for positively impacting the lives of the people and commended the inclusive approach of Tinubu’s government, emphasizing its dedication to providing a sense of belonging to vulnerable populations.
