In a devastating turn of events, Plateau State experiences a black Christmas as assailants wreak havoc, claiming the lives of over seventy-six individuals in fresh attacks on communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas. The coordinated assaults, occurring on Saturday and extending into Christmas Eve, left residents in a state of shock and grief.
Monday Kasa, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, revealed that the casualty count continues to rise as security personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters recover more bodies while searching for missing persons ambushed during the attacks. The assailants set houses ablaze, looted farm produce, and left a trail of destruction in their wake.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang swiftly responded to the tragedy, condemning the heinous acts and calling for immediate action and community vigilance. In an official statement, the governor directed security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators promptly, ensuring they face the full force of the law. He urged communities to stay vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to security operatives for swift action.
As rescue operations unfold in the affected communities, both the police force and the joint security task force Operation Safe Haven are yet to provide official statements on the attacks. The dark cloud cast over Plateau State serves as a stark reminder of the need for increased security measures and collective vigilance to protect communities from such senseless violence.
