Imam assumes leadership of the commercial bank, succeeding Olaniran Olayinka, who held the CEO position from March 2020 until the recent dissolution of the boards of Keystone Bank and two other banks by the CBN.

Bringing over 25 years of banking experience to his new role, Imam has previously served in various executive capacities throughout his career. Before being named CEO, he held the position of Executive Director for the North Region at Fidelity Bank since January 2020. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing Fidelity Bank’s commercial, SME, consumer, and public sector operations in 19 Northern Nigerian states, including Abuja.

Imam’s journey in the banking sector began in 1998 when he joined FSB International Bank, which later merged with Fidelity Bank in 2005. Over the years, he progressively assumed leadership roles at Fidelity across commercial banking, consumer banking, SME, and risk management.

Having risen from the position of General Manager, Imam’s dedication and expertise led him to a role on the Board of Directors during his extensive career at Fidelity Bank. The appointment of Hassan Imam reflects the Central Bank of Nigeria’s strategic decision to bring experienced leadership to Keystone Bank amid recent changes in the banking sector.
