The governor, expressing dismay over the reported harassment, issued a statement banning unauthorized individuals from accessing the government house. The statement also emphasized the governor’s commitment to ensuring the swift prosecution of the culprits.
According to the released statement, the lawmakers from Kogi State Senate and House of Representatives visited Governor Bello to extend congratulations for the peaceful and credible conduct of the November 11 governorship election. They also pledged their unwavering loyalty to the governor and the incoming administration.
Shortly after the meeting, Governor Bello was shocked to learn about the harassment of some lawmakers as they exited the government house. In response, he promptly ordered the arrest of those responsible and instructed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation. The governor emphasized the need for the offenders to face the full consequences of the law.
The National Assembly members who were part of the delegation included Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho of Kogi East, Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West, and several representatives from different federal constituencies in the state.
