Akpata, without discouraging citizens from accepting gifts from politicians, asserts that Edo State should go beyond the traditional practice of distributing rice and food items. Instead, the focus should be on promoting essential amenities that directly enhance the lives of the common man.
Akpata unequivocally expressed his belief that Edo State, like many parts of the country, requires a more substantial and enduring strategy for development. According to him, the state should prioritize fundamental needs that have a lasting impact on the well-being of its residents.
Edo State faces a multifaceted array of challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, high unemployment rates, educational deficiencies, limited healthcare access, hindered agricultural productivity, security concerns, corruption, environmental issues, political tensions, electricity supply inconsistencies, and notably, poorly maintained roads.
These issues collectively demand urgent attention and comprehensive strategies to foster sustainable development and enhance the well-being of the populace.
As a gubernatorial aspirant for Edo State, Akpata envisions transforming the state into a model of sustainable prosperity. His vision prioritizes economic diversification, job creation, quality education, accessible healthcare, robust infrastructure, environmental sustainability, transparent governance, social welfare, and security. Through these key priorities, Akpata aims to build a lasting legacy of inclusive growth, innovation, and prosperity for all residents of Edo State.
While festive giveaways offer immediate relief and visibility, investing in infrastructure yields long-term benefits such as job creation, improved quality of life, and increased economic opportunities.
This shift aims to address the root causes of challenges faced by the state, building resilience, empowering communities, and leaving a lasting political legacy. Embracing this approach is crucial for fostering a resilient, self-sufficient, and prosperous future for Edo State.
