Previously, armed thugs had unlawfully entered the facility on Friday and demolished a section of the perimeter fence. Subsequently, some suspects were apprehended by the Nigerian Air Force and handed over to the police, as reported by BUSHRADIOGIST.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, later confirmed the arrests. The accused individuals, namely Mr. Jude Jonathan Emejulu and an accomplice, along with others who are still at large, were presented before the magistrate court presided over by His Worship Apolonia Edeani on Monday.

The charges brought against them were in accordance with Section 1 (3) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act. Despite pleading not guilty, their counsel, Alex Amujiogu, sought bail for the accused. However, their repeated history of engaging in similar actions against the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in the past undermined the efforts to secure bail.

The prosecutor, Barr Justus Attah, OC Legal, Enugu State Police Command, argued against granting bail due to the accused’s prior record. Consequently, the court ruled that Mr. Emejulu and his accomplice be remanded in Enugu Correctional Center. The case file is set to be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further advice.
