While justifying President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend the minister, Mumuni, in a statement released through his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, urged caution in discussing the president’s actions to avoid compromising national interests. He defended Tinubu’s appointment of a female and youth to head the ministry, asserting that commendation rather than criticism should be extended to the president for taking decisive action.
Mumuni, a respected author and security expert, acknowledged Tinubu’s correct decision in appointing a female minister and advocated for praising the suspension amidst the allegations of financial misconduct. Despite acknowledging Edu’s previous contributions, Mumuni stressed the importance of allowing the EFCC to independently handle the ongoing investigations.
In his statement, Mumuni emphasized the need for Nigerians to refrain from assuming the role of judges and urged them to trust the EFCC’s competence.
