Yahaya Bello, the chairman of MACBAN in Mangu, addressed the media on behalf of fellow members, vehemently denying the allegations linking their group to recent incidents in the region. Bello emphasized that MACBAN members are law-abiding individuals and not affiliated with any militias. He dismissed the accusations against them as baseless.

Bello went on to highlight that some of their own community members have fallen victim to the ongoing crisis. He revealed that out of the 11 districts in Mangu local government, 9 have no Fulani residents. Contrary to the assertions, he insisted, “We are not responsible; we are the people of Mangu. In response to claims of land grabbing, Bello firmly denied such allegations, asserting that the Fulani community is solely engaged in cattle rearing and has never been involved in encroaching on land. He clarified, “No, that is not true. The issue of land grabbing, Fulani are just there to rear our cows, we have never done that.”

Addressing questions about the alleged arrest of MACBAN members with weapons, Bello refuted the accusation, stating, “Nothing of that nature, nobody has ever been arrested from our side with ammunition. I have not seen it.”
