According to Tracka Nigeria, Umahi’s ministry reportedly paid N8.6 billion to FIMS Microfinance Bank Ltd for road projects in Oyo, Benue, Ekiti, and Kaduna states. The breakdown of payments includes N1.4 billion in September 2023 for the Yaba-Yangoje Road in the FCT, N1.2 billion in October 2023 for a 2km road rehabilitation in Atiba, Oyo state, and N1.2 billion for the rehabilitation of roads in Oyo East LGA and Benue State between August and November 2023.

FIMS Microfinance Bank Ltd, incorporated to conduct microfinance businesses, raises concerns as awarding road construction contracts to a financial institution violates the Public Procurement Act 2007, particularly s.16 (6) (a) (i), (iii), and (iv).

The shocking revelation has sparked reactions from Nigerians who are now demanding a thorough investigation into the matter and, if necessary, the removal of Umahi from office. Some of the comments expressing public outrage include:
