The ongoing inauguration ceremony of Usman Ododo as the Governor of Kogi State is currently underway in Lokoja, the state capital. The event, commencing at 10:00 am, is unfolding at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja.
Distinguished attendees include Vice President Kashim Shettima, standing in for President Bola Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour; Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Yahaya Bello, the outgoing Governor of Kogi State; and Abdulrasaq Rahma, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and the Governor of Kwara State.
Usman Ododo secured victory in the Logo governorship election on November 11, 2023, running on the APC ticket. With 446,237 votes, he surpassed his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who garnered 259,052 votes. The results were declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) based on the outcomes from the 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
It’s worth noting that Ododo’s triumph in the governorship election is currently facing a challenge from his main competitor, Ajaka.
