Leading the appointments is Dr. Folashade Ayoade, who has been appointed as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Ayoade, previously serving as the SSG for the past eight years under the immediate past Governor, Yayaha Bello, brings a wealth of experience to the position. Additionally, Ali Bello has been named as the Chief of Staff, bringing a familial connection to the administration as the nephew of the former governor. Bello, who originates from the Kogi Central Senatorial District, has a background working with Yakubu Adabenege, now the Auditor-General of Local Government.

The Director-General, Protocol, position goes to Suleman Ibrahim, a seasoned professional whose experience is expected to contribute to the smooth functioning of the government machinery.

The media and communication arm of the government will be led by Oladele Nihi, who assumes the role of Chief Press Secretary. Nihi is anticipated to play a crucial role in managing the governor’s communication strategy and ensuring transparency in government affairs.

In a notable move, several former commissioners under the previous administration have been reappointed, reflecting the new governor’s recognition of their expertise. Among them are Kingsley Fanwo, the former Commissioner for Information; Idris Ashiru, former Finance Commissioner; Bashir Gegu, former Commissioner for Solid Minerals; Wemi Jones, former Commissioner for Education; and Salami Deedat, the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The appointments reflect a careful balance between continuity and innovation, as Governor Usman Ododo sets the stage for his administration’s priorities and objectives. The people of Kogi will be keenly watching as the new team takes charge of the state’s affairs, expecting tangible progress and inclusive governance.
