Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, disclosed this partnership through a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, on Wednesday in Abuja.

This collaboration materialized following a meeting between Alake and the UK Deputy Prime Minister, Oliver Dowden, during the Mines and Money conference in London in December 2023.

A delegation from the British High Commission, led by Deputy High Commissioner Johnny Baxter, visited the Minister of Solid Minerals Development on Tuesday to finalize the details of this cooperative initiative.

Minister Alake emphasized that the partnership would lead to investments across the entire mining sector value chain. He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to enhancing the business environment in the mining sector by establishing a new security architecture for natural resources. Additionally, the government aims to create an efficient governance structure by forming a Nigerian Mining Corporation, overseen by the private sector.

The minister reiterated the government’s dedication to cleansing and revitalizing the mining sector, aiming to significantly increase its contribution to the nation’s revenue.
