Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, revealed this development while presenting some apprehended suspects, citing the incident’s occurrence on Monday.
The suspects were apprehended while traveling in a Toyota Starlet with registration number YLA 321 ZY along the Jalingo-Yola bypass road.
During a search conducted on the suspect, CP Eribo confirmed the recovery of seven phones, three thousand unused recharge cards, and four amulets.
He stated, “A cash sum of eight million, five hundred and fifty-five thousand Naira (₦8,555,000); seven phones; three thousand unused recharge cards; and four amulets were recovered from him.”
Despite the suspect attempting to bribe the Police Mobile Force personnel by offering them the entire amount in exchange for his release, the officers rejected the bribe and proceeded to make the arrest.
CP Eribo emphasized that the case is currently under investigation, and the suspect will soon face charges in court.
