President of the Court of Appeal, Monica Dongban-Mensem, has established a tribunal to address petitions related to the by-elections held in Katsina State on Saturday. The creation of the tribunal is in accordance with the powers vested in the President of the Court of Appeal by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, and the Electoral Act 2022, as amended. The statement further mentioned that Justice Dongban-Mensem has constituted the national and state assembly by-elections tribunal for Katsina State. In response to this development, the Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi, has granted the use of High Courtroom No 5, located at the state’s High Court of Justice complex, for the tribunal proceedings.
Hajiya Aisha Muhammad-Fika advised the general public to direct any inquiries to the Registry/Secretariat of the tribunal. She also mentioned that a date for the inaugural sitting of the tribunal would be communicated in due course.
The by-elections, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, February 3, covered 20 polling units in Kankara and Faskari Local Government Areas of Katsina State, as reported by BUSHRADIOGIST.
