The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Ekene Ibegbu on charges related to an alleged racketeering scheme involving more than N1.5 million. Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for EFCC, disclosed this information in a statement released on a Saturday in Abuja. The arrest took place on Owerri-Enugu Road on Thursday, conducted by members of the Commission’s Special Task Force associated with the Enugu Command.
According to Oyewale, the arrest followed actionable intelligence pointing to Ibegbu’s suspected engagement in currency racketeering. Once investigations are completed, he is expected to face charges in court, as stated by the EFCC spokesperson.
