Sources in the area reveal that Adelabu, widely known as “Shessy Emirate” in social circles, reportedly attacked his wife with a machete after suspecting her of infidelity. The gruesome incident unfolded within the confines of their home, raising questions about the dynamics of their relationship.

Following the brutal assault, Emirate, who owns a chain of gas and filling stations, purportedly left his residence to purchase the lethal insecticide known as Sniper. Upon returning, he consumed the substance, leading to his untimely demise.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Abayomi Oladipo, has promptly ordered an investigation into the tragic incident. Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the development and stated that the State Criminal Investigation Department’s homicide section would take charge of the case.

“On the 9th of February, 2024, a distress call was received by the police of A’ Division Akure by men of the Special Protection Unit. The officer attached to the deceased in his house in the Alagbaka area of Akure received a call from the deceased child around 6 p.m. asking after his father. When he was not picking up his calls, the policeman, while trying to inform his principal, discovered him face down and lifeless in the toilet, while his wife’s body was found on the bed with multiple cuts suspected to be machete cuts on her head and face. An empty container of snipers was also found at the scene,” she disclosed.

The bodies of the tragic couple have been transported to the mortuary as the community grapples with the shock and grief over this heartbreaking incident.
