According to NiMet’s announcement, the weather pattern was expected to commence on Thursday and persist until Saturday. The forecast warned of moderate dust haze, particularly in the northern regions, with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km. Additionally, localized areas in the north were projected to experience visibility levels of less than 1km, posing potential challenges for travelers and outdoor activities.

In the North Central region, NiMet anticipated a slight dust haze along with patches of clouds in areas such as Kogi, Benue, and Kwara. Meanwhile, inland states were likely to witness a mixture of cloudy skies and intermittent sunshine.

The most striking aspect of the forecast was the prediction of isolated thunderstorms in various states during the afternoon and evening hours. Areas expected to experience these thunderstorms included Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Ogun. This forecast raised concerns among residents, as thunderstorms can bring heavy rainfall, lightning, and strong winds, potentially leading to disruptions in daily activities and infrastructure.

In response to the anticipated weather conditions, NiMet advised citizens to take precautions, including the use of face masks to protect against dust particles in the atmosphere. Airline operators were also urged to stay updated on weather reports and forecasts to ensure the safe planning and execution of their operations.

As the nation braced itself for the impending weather events, communities remained vigilant, ready to adapt and respond to any challenges that the haze and thunderstorms might bring over the three-day period.
