Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo recently shared a touching anecdote about the compassionate gesture of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, following the passing of Kanayo’s mother.
In a recent interview, Kanayo recounted the thoughtful gesture from 2011 when Obi, who was then the governor of Anambra State, reached out to express his condolences after the burial. Despite expectations of a substantial sum, Obi sent him N250,000, equivalent to the price of a cow in 2011.
Kanayo emphasized the significance of the act, highlighting that, more than the monetary value, it was Obi’s consideration and the time he took from his busy schedule to convey condolences that mattered most. He noted that genuine friends should prioritize such meaningful gestures over materialistic expectations.
