Tragedy struck at Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State as 13-year-old Kelvin Onyengba lost his life during a hangout. The incident occurred around noon on February 27, 2024, while the boy was swimming with five friends.
According to a police source, the unfortunate event was attributed to the powerful waves of the sea. Kelvin’s mother shared that her son was swept away by the water’s force while he was enjoying a swim with his friends. Despite efforts to locate him, the young boy did not return to his parents.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident. Detectives from the area visited the scene, and the family anxiously awaited the recovery of the missing body. The tragic occurrence serves as a somber reminder of the inherent dangers associated with beach activities.
