Police in Agu community, Vandekiya Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state, have apprehended three individuals involved in illegal gun manufacturing. The arrest was made based on intelligence gathered about arms deals in the area. Precious Ebuka Chukwu, hailing from Onitsha, Anambra State, was arrested at Agu during a police operation on February 7, 2024. Upon searching Chukwu, three locally made Beretta pistols were recovered.
Chukwu provided information leading the police to the residence of his regular suppliers, identified as Tyav Wuese and Tyav Terkuma, both blacksmiths from Adikpo, Kwande LGA, who specialize in fabricating guns. The police arrested the two manufacturers, and the recovered weapons and suspects will be presented in court soon.
Addressing the media, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, emphasized the successful outcome of the operation, highlighting the collaboration between police detectives and intelligence gathering to curtail illegal arms activities in the region. The suspects will face legal charges as the police work towards maintaining security and enforcing the law.
