The President was initially greeted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his wife, Ibijoke, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hazmat, state commissioners, and aides during the inauguration of the red line train project.

Tinubu received a warm welcome from Governors Usman Ododo (Kogi), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, and other distinguished guests.

The Red Rail Line spans 37 km with 13 stations, linking key bus terminals at Oyingbo, Yaba, Oshodi, Ikeja, Ebute Metta, Iju, and Iddo, while also connecting to the international and domestic wings of the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

Once fully operational, the train has the capacity to transport 1.1 million people daily.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized in a post on his official handle that the commissioning of the project goes beyond enhancing the city’s mobility; it is about reshaping the urban landscape and setting a new pace for development. He highlighted that by connecting crucial points across Lagos, the administration is creating opportunities, fostering growth, and working towards a sustainable future.
