In Ekiti State, a 25-year-old man, Babuga Lede, has been remanded in the correctional centre by an Ekiti State Magistrate’s Court for his alleged involvement in the murder of two traditional rulers. The victims, Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsakin, and Olumojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olusola, were ambushed and killed by gunmen while traveling along Oke Ako-Irele Road on January 29. During the arraignment on Tuesday, the police prosecutor, Yomi Osuolale, informed the court that there was a probable cause to remand the defendant at the Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti. Osuolale detailed the charges, stating, “The defendant is reasonably suspected to have committed an offence of conspiracy to kidnap, attempt to murder, and murder of Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin and Oba Samuel Olatunde Ishola. The defendant also attempted to kidnap Oba Samuel Adebayo Fatoba and Bamidele Ibikunle Joseph (driver).”
