Police in Jigawa State have dismantled a suspected syndicate of internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys. This significant operation was confirmed by DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the spokesperson for the command, through an official statement to BUSHRADIOGIST.

The apprehension occurred on Wednesday around 10:00 hrs when operatives from the Dutse Division, acting on credible intelligence, raided a residence at Yalwawa Quarters in the Dutse metropolis.

The arrested individuals include 28-year-old Henry Chilaka from Mbaise LGA, Imo State; Solomon Ubah, 26 years old; Bright Enyeazu, 19 years old; Chigozie Duru, 19 years old; and Solomon Uchezie, 17 years old, all hailing from Abia State.

During the interrogation, the suspects admitted their affiliation with a Yahoo syndicate that had established a base in the state capital, Dutse. They pointed out one Charles Chiemala, who is currently at large, as the person who brought them to the state and introduced them to the fraudulent activities.

As a result of the operation, law enforcement recovered five laptop computers, five handsets, a generator, two inverter batteries, six substantial solar panel battery terminals, two mattresses, household items, and the sum of N230,000.

The apprehended individuals have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for a thorough investigation and will subsequently face charges in court.

In a related development, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has joined forces with former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to combat the spread of fake news. This collaborative effort aims to address misinformation and maintain the integrity of information dissemination.
