Customs Authorities Seek Traditional Rulers’ Support In Combating Food Insecurity....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has urged traditional leaders to play a crucial role in controlling food prices within the country. Joseph Adelaja, the Acting Controller of the Federal Operation Unit, Zone ‘D’, made this plea during a courtesy visit to the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Barkido Aliyu-Mustapha in Yola.

Adelaja highlighted that the surge in food prices can be attributed to the unlawful hoarding and exportation of food commodities. In alignment with the policy directives of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), which emphasizes consolidation, collaboration, and innovation, the NCS seeks the support and guidance of traditional leaders in addressing the challenges of food insecurity.

Acknowledging that national and food security is a shared responsibility, Adelaja emphasized the need for cooperation from all stakeholders and the general public to effectively tackle this issue. He stressed the significance of overcoming the menace of illegal exportation of petroleum products, which contributes to the hardships faced by citizens.

Adelaja urged for a united front, calling on everyone to support the government during this critical period in the nation’s history. He emphasized that collective efforts are essential to ensuring the stability of food prices and addressing challenges related to national security.
