Former Minister Shittu Reveals Key Reasons Behind Buhari’s Decision To Shelve Orosanye’s Report....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has refuted claims that the Steven Oronsaye report was presented to former President Muhammadu Buhari during his tenure. Shittu, who served as a minister in Buhari’s initial term from 2015 to 2019, clarified that the report was never brought to the attention of the former president, resulting in its non-implementation.

Addressing reporters on Friday, Shittu emphasized that since the report wasn’t raised for discussion, there was no imperative to delve into its contents. He stated, “The report had been with the previous government (Jonathan’s) but they didn’t do anything. Nobody brought it to our (Buhari government’s) attention, at least not when I was there. So, the issue never came up for discussion at the Federal Executive Council meeting at all. If nobody brought it and there were no complaints, we didn’t have cause to look at it at all.”

The controversy surrounding the Oronsaye report emerged as the Federal Government sanctioned the implementation of certain recommendations aimed at curbing the cost of governance. This includes the merger of twenty-nine government agencies and the absorption of eight parastatals into other agencies.

In response to concerns about potential job losses, Shittu reassured that civil servants need not fear, asserting that the impact would primarily be felt by politicians. The former minister suggested that without any presentation or discussion on the report during his tenure, there was no basis for the government to consider its implementation.
