The Kaduna State Police Command has reported the successful interception of a kidnapping attempt on the Buruku-Kaduna highway on Thursday, as disclosed by ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s spokesperson, in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna.
Hassan revealed that the bandits were compelled to withdraw due to the decisive response of the police personnel. He narrated, “At 1300hrs on March 21, officers from the 47PMF stationed at Buruku Police Station effectively halted a kidnapping endeavor by bandits along the Buruku-Kaduna highway.”
He continued, “During a routine crime prevention patrol along the highway, alert PMF personnel spotted bandits near Corner Ugara. Upon noticing the presence of the PMF officers, the bandits initiated gunfire, triggering an immediate reaction from the officers.”
Demonstrating exceptional bravery and professionalism, the PMF officers retaliated with gunfire, effectively neutralizing the armed bandits’ threat. “The ensuing exchange of gunfire compelled the bandits to retreat into the nearby bush. Despite their efforts to evade capture, the bandits sustained fatal injuries during the encounter,” Hassan added.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Audu Ali, commended the swift action and courage displayed by the mobile policemen, averting what could have escalated into a tragic incident. He urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
