In their ongoing efforts to combat banditry within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the operatives of the FCT Police Command conducted a decisive operation in Jibi forest near Dei-dei Abuja, resulting in the apprehension of one suspect.

SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed this development in a statement issued on Monday, March 25, 2024. The operation, carried out at 06:00 AM on March 23, 2024, was prompted by credible intelligence indicating the presence of bandits, including Mallam Danyaboi and Ilu, who were allegedly planning retaliatory kidnappings following the arrest of their associates.

Upon the arrival of police personnel, the bandits attempted to flee their hideouts to evade capture. However, one suspect was successfully arrested, and various items such as firearms and livestock were seized from the camp.

This action follows closely on the heels of the recent arrest and public presentation of Nasiru Mohammed, also known as Danger, on March 11, 2024, for his alleged involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents in the FCT.

In response to these developments, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, has assured residents of continued efforts to ensure their safety. He encourages the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.
