Investigation Reveals Alleged Pressure From Nasarawa Governor To Establish Militia, Claims Miyetti Allah Leader
Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore President, Bello Bodejo, Alleges Nasarawa Governor’s Involvement in Ethnic Militia Formation
Bello Bodejo, the President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, who is currently facing terrorism charges, has pointed fingers at Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, for allegedly spearheading the establishment of the Kungiya Zaman Lafiya ethnic militia group.
Bodejo, detained since his arrest by the Defence Intelligence Agency on January 23, 2024, asserted that Governor Sule exerted pressure on him to create the militia group.
Charged with three counts of terrorism before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja on March 22, 2024, Bodejo stands accused of setting up the Kungiya Zaman Lafiya militia without proper authorization, an offense punishable under Section 29 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
In an exclusive statement obtained by Sunday BUSHRADIOGIST, Bodejo disclosed Governor Sule’s alleged involvement in initiating the militia’s formation. According to him, the governor approached him earlier in the year, expressing a distinct approach to establishing a vigilante group, deviating from the methods adopted by other state governors.
Bodejo recounted a conversation where Governor Sule purportedly sought to employ individuals who participated in pre-election political rallies, intending to integrate them with the Army to function as vigilantes under his command. Despite reservations expressed by Bodejo regarding collaboration with Akajo, the leader of the group, the governor persisted in his insistence.
The Miyetti Allah leader further claimed that funds allocated by the governor for the militia were mismanaged by Akajo, resulting in dissent among members from various local government areas.
Subsequent attempts to formalize the group, as advised by a retired Captain Ahmed Chiroma, were allegedly rebuffed by the governor, who insisted on maintaining unilateral control over the state’s affairs.
The unfolding allegations cast a shadow over Governor Sule’s administration, raising questions about his involvement in the controversial establishment of the Kungiya Zaman Lafiya militia.
