Nigeria Unveils Ambitious Plan To Boost Electricity Generation To 6,000MW Within Six Months....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Minister Adelabu, in a recent appearance on Channel Television’s “Politics Today,” unveiled President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s ambitious plan to elevate Nigeria’s power generation to 6,000 megawatts (MW) within the next six months. Currently, Nigeria faces minor distribution challenges despite generating and transmitting over 4,000MW.

Adelabu highlighted that the nation’s power generation, mainly sourced from hydropower and thermal plants, boasts an installed capacity of 13,000MW. However, logistical and technical hurdles have historically limited output to just over 4,000MW.

“We are tirelessly working day and night to achieve a historic milestone of 6,000MW in power generation,” Adelabu affirmed, emphasizing the government’s dedication to ensuring effective transmission and distribution across Nigeria.

This commitment is particularly timely, considering Nigeria’s recent power generation setbacks, exacerbated by a reduced gas supply and two national grid collapses in the first quarter of 2024. Minister Adelabu acknowledged public concerns, especially regarding increased tariffs for Band A customers, but assured that the upcoming improvements would lead to a more stable and reliable power supply.

Adelabu urged the public’s patience and understanding as the government addresses these longstanding issues. With planned enhancements, Nigerians can anticipate significant improvements in electricity supply, signaling a pivotal moment in the nation’s power sector.
