Senator Ahmad Lawan, President of the 9th Senate, has urged military authorities to promptly investigate the recent killing of three innocent civilians by soldiers in Gashu’a, the administrative center of Bade local government area in Yobe State.
In a statement released on Sunday, Senator Lawan, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Defence, expressed deep concern over the tragic incident. He stressed the importance of holding the perpetrators of such violence accountable for their actions and ensuring justice prevails.
“Gashua community has long been known for its tranquility, with residents consistently cooperating with the military, paramilitary, and other government agencies,” Senator Lawan remarked, highlighting the community’s peaceful nature.
Appealing for calm among residents, Senator Lawan assured that he has engaged with military authorities to ensure swift apprehension and legal action against those responsible for the incident.
He extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, emphasizing the commitment to serve justice in the matter.
