Blackface Calls Out Shallipopi Over Alleged Song Theft....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Renowned Nigerian musician Augustine Obiabo Amedu, famously known as Blackface, has raised allegations against Shallipopi, accusing him of appropriating his intellectual property. Blackface asserts that Shallipopi incorporated elements of his iconic track ‘Enemy Plan’ into his debut album ‘Shakepopi’ without obtaining proper authorization, a move Blackface deems as a violation of his creative rights.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the former Plantashun Boiz member posted a video questioning whether Nigerian artists can create original music without resorting to copying his signature sound or melody. Writing in pidgin, Blackface expressed his frustration, implying that he had remixed his songs for others, urging them to abandon their current projects.

As of now, Shallipopi has not responded to these accusations.

This isn’t the first instance of Blackface confronting fellow musicians over alleged plagiarism. In the past, he called out prominent Afrobeats stars like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake for similar offenses. During an interview with Naija FM in Lagos, Blackface claimed that tracks like ‘Ginger’ by Wizkid and Burna Boy were derived from his own compositions, citing similarities in rhythm, beat, and melody.

Furthermore, he accused Asake of sampling his song ‘Ikebe Supa’ in ‘Joha,’ emphasizing his role as an inspiration to these artists. While Blackface maintains that he doesn’t oppose young talents drawing inspiration from his work, he condemns their failure to seek proper authorization before using his material.

The ongoing dispute underscores the complexities of intellectual property rights within Nigeria’s music industry, highlighting the need for greater respect and acknowledgment of artists’ creative contributions.
