Kaduna State Assembly Launches Inquiry Into Ex-Governor El-Rufai’s Financial Deals....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has initiated an inquiry into the financial activities of the state government during the tenure of former governor Nasir el-Rufa’i. A formal letter, identified as LEG/S. 382/VOL. II/615, was dispatched from the office of the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s clerk to the Commissioner of Finance.

The correspondence requested the submission of memoranda and documents pertaining to financial transactions spanning from 2015 to May 2023.

Signed by Clerk to the Legislature, Barr. Sakinatu Hassan Idris, the letter disclosed, “The Kaduna State House of Assembly at its One Hundred and Fiftieth (150th) Sitting on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024, Resolved and Constituted an Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate Loans, Financial Transactions, Contractual Liabilities & Other Related Matters of The Government of Kaduna State from 29th May, 2015 to 29 May, 2023, in accordance with Order XVI Rule 9 of the Standing Orders and Rules of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, 2019 and Section 103, 128 & 129 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as Amended).”

Further instructions detailed the specific documents required, including loan details, executive council minutes, contractor payments, salary reports, among others. The directive mandated the submission of 30 copies of the memo/documents to the Clerk to the Legislature’s office by 10:00 am on Thursday, April 25th, 2024.

The assembly had previously cautioned Bello El-Rufai, son of the former governor, against attempting to influence or intimidate the House regarding the investigation into his father’s administration.
