Three individuals involved in an assault on a Divisional Police Officer in Lagos state, Abaniwonda Tokunbo, have been apprehended by law enforcement authorities.
As reported by the police, the incident occurred on April 9 when the assailants attacked the DPO using cutlasses and other dangerous weapons while she was traveling on Otedola Bridge. Sources indicate that during the altercation, the assailants forcibly took the DPO’s phone and inflicted a cutlass wound on her back.
Subsequently, the police received intelligence suggesting that the suspects were staying at a hotel in Akute, Ajuwon area, located in Ogun state. A prompt raid was conducted at the hotel, resulting in the arrest of the ringleader identified as Tochukwu Nonso, 29, also known as Thug Life, along with his accomplice, Chidera Christopher, 25.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects not only forcefully took the DPO’s phone but also inflicted a severe injury on her. Additionally, it was uncovered that the ringleader had been involved in robberies on the aforementioned bridge for more than five years, periodically changing his partners in crime.
Upon inquiry, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the apprehension of the suspects.
