ACF Advocates Against Establishment Of Foreign Military Bases In Nigeria: Here’s Why....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has praised the Nigerian Government for its decision to distance itself from any potential arrangement to invite foreign nations to establish military bases within Nigeria. This commendation comes after prominent Northern leaders and Civil Society Organizations cautioned President Bola Tinubu against permitting the United States and France to relocate their military bases from the Sahel region to Nigeria.

Expressing their concerns in a letter addressed to Tinubu and the leadership of the National Assembly, these leaders urged the government to resist pressures from the US and France regarding the establishment of such bases.

However, on Monday, the Federal Government clarified that there have been no discussions with foreign countries regarding the establishment of foreign military bases within Nigeria. This clarification was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, in a statement released on Monday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Mohammed-Baba, the ACF expressed relief that the Federal Government had denied any plans to allow the setup of foreign military bases. The group urged the government to firmly reject any requests to host foreign military bases in Nigeria.

The ACF also called upon Northern representatives in the National Assembly to remain vigilant and prepared to reject any requests for approval to establish foreign military bases in the country.

The ACF commended the Federal Government for taking such a decisive and reassuring stance, describing it as a source of pride and a comforting assurance. This development, according to the ACF, represents a victory for all patriotic Nigerians who expressed their readiness to oppose the “rumored” plans to host US and French military bases in Nigeria after they were rejected in Burkina Faso and Niger.
