Federal Government Rejects Binance CEO’s Bribery Accusations: No Monetary Demands, Clarifies Statement....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to pursue the criminal case against cryptocurrency platform Binance and its executives to its conclusion. Binance CEO, Richard Teng, claimed that Nigerian government officials solicited a bribe from the company to resolve the investigation.

Teng detailed in a blog post that during discussions with government officials in Abuja on January 8, Binance was accused of illegal activities and forex manipulation. However, officials from the Bola Tinubu administration denied the bribery allegations, dismissing claims of a $150 million cryptocurrency bribe as false.

A compliance officer, Tigran Gambaryan, reportedly received a message demanding the cryptocurrency payment within 48 hours during a visit to Nigeria in January, which he interpreted as a bribe request from Nigerian authorities. Gambaryan was subsequently detained, while his colleague, Nadeem Anjarwalla, escaped and was found in Kenya.

Gambaryan allegedly documented the payment request and provided it to Binance’s legal team. The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) affirmed that the government would present its case based on evidence and due process.

A prosecutor with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ekele Iheanacho, refuted Teng’s allegations and pledged to prosecute the case vigorously. However, he denied any money demands, asserting that the case would reach a logical conclusion.

The Attorney-General of the Federation’s Media Adviser, Kamarudeen Ogundele, directed inquiries to the information minister and the Presidency. Anonymous senior officials challenged Teng to reveal the identities of those allegedly involved in the bribery attempt.
