Several road accidents in Ogun State have resulted in the loss of three lives, with 21 others sustaining various injuries, according to reports. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed these incidents on Sunday while addressing journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The accidents occurred on Saturday at different locations, including the Iju bridge, Atan, on the Owode Idiroko Expressway, and Ayedade village, Obada, on the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway. Akinbiyi disclosed that the deceased have been transferred to the State Hospital Mortuary in Ota and the Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro Abeokuta.

Detailing the accident, Akinbiyi mentioned that five vehicles were involved, including a Mazda bus (registration number AAA729YC), a Toyota Hiace bus (registration number LND85YA), a Sino truck without registration, a Bajaj tricycle (marked TTN58ND), and a Volkswagen bus (White) with registration number APP 77 YD.

In a separate incident, tragedy struck in Maitama, Abuja, where an employee of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Khalid Bichi, was fatally shot by unknown gunmen on Friday night. Bichi, a middle-aged man, was attacked while out to purchase food. Despite being rushed to Maitama General Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Bichi was recognized for his active presence on social media under the username @Khalid Bichi and had affiliations with influential politicians.
