Lead British School Faces Lawsuit Over Bullying: Namtira Bwara Seeks ₦500 Million In Damages....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A civil lawsuit has been initiated by Namitira Bwala, a student at a prestigious British International School in Abuja, against the school’s administration. Bwala alleges that the institution neglected its responsibility to ensure a secure and suitable educational atmosphere.

Several weeks ago, social media erupted with outrage over a video depicting the purported bullying of a female student at the Lead British International School in Abuja by her peers. Shared by a user under the handle @mooyeeeeeee, the distressing footage prompted calls for justice.

On May 9, 2024, Bwala, represented by Marvin Omorogbe, Esq., from Deji Adeyanju and Partners, lodged the lawsuit (FCT/HC/CV/2341/24: Miss Namtira Bwala Vs Lead British International School Ltd) at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. She seeks, among other things, a public apology to be published in two national newspapers and ₦500 million in general damages.

The suit alleges that the school, by virtue of Bwala’s enrollment, owed her a duty of care to safeguard her from physical or emotional harm and breaches of privacy. It further contends that the school’s failure to prevent or promptly address the reported assault and emotional distress constitutes negligence.

The legal action aims to hold the school accountable and bring about reforms to prevent similar incidents. The victim’s family asserts that the institution’s failure to provide a safe learning environment led to their daughter’s ordeal.
