Abuja Authority Confirms Number Of Structures Set For Demolition In FCTA Report....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has designated over five hundred buildings for demolition, as confirmed during a recent operation in Abuja, led by Garba Jibril, the Sector Monitor and Assistant Director in the department.

Jibril emphasized that the affected property owners had been served multiple notices. Furthermore, Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of Development Control, organized a meeting to engage stakeholders and raise awareness about the impending demolitions.

The decision to demolish these structures stemmed from their adverse impact on traffic flow, particularly evident on market days, and their contribution to environmental hazards, both of which the FCT Administration sought to mitigate.

Jibril also disclosed that the FCTA had contracted the construction of the Life Camp–Dei-Dei Road. However, the persistent presence of traders along the road corridor hindered the commencement of construction activities.

He reiterated the significance of the 24-hour notice and warned of consequences for non-compliance. Additionally, traders were urged to relocate to the designated Karmo Market, equipped with adequate facilities.

Despite efforts to facilitate the relocation, including meetings with stakeholders and promises of incentives from market operators, traders remained reluctant to vacate the road corridor.

Jibril expressed hope that the demolition would prompt successful relocation to the main market, ensuring a conducive environment and smooth traffic flow in the area.
